Summer Program
For our summer program, we look for candidates who have distinguished themselves academically and personally. Since we typically hire our first-year associates from our summer program, we look for intelligent and highly-motivated individuals who are capable of learning quickly and accepting responsibility. We pair each of our summer associates with a mentor who works with the summer associate in completing assignments and managing workload.
The firm's aim is to expose summer associates to a variety of tasks, assignments and experiences so that summer associates may come to have a good understanding of what it would be like to practice law at Kummer Kaempfer on a permanent basis. Accordingly, summer associates are invited to participate in client meetings, attorney meetings, court and administrative hearings, depositions and other case-specific matters. Additionally, summer associates are generally involved with legal research and writing in the various practice areas of the firm. The firm has a mentor program for summer associates. The firm also hosts several social events during the summer for the summer associates, employees, and their families.

Associates
We actively recruit lawyers and paralegals with outstanding academic records throughout the United States. The Firm looks for individuals with a high degree of maturity, independent motivation and excellent interpersonal skills. The Firm offers the lock-step program to new associates. Depending on experience, starting salaries range from $100,000 to $135,000.
Typically, new associates join a department, based upon the associate's interests and expertise and the needs of the firm. Attorneys also have the opportunity to participate in firm committees, such as the Recruiting Committee or the Technology Committee, and are invited to attend monthly marketing/client development meetings given by the firm's director of business development.
